Our Privacy-First Approach
Nova AI is designed from the ground up to be a privacy-first application. Unlike many AI services that process your data in the cloud, Nova AI runs entirely on your device. This means:
- No cloud processing: All AI inference happens locally on your device
- No conversation uploads: Your chats with the AI are never sent to our servers
- No account required: You can use the App without creating an account or providing personal information
- Offline functionality: The App works without an internet connection
Information We Do NOT Collect
We want to be clear about what we do not collect:
Information That May Be Collected
While we strive to minimize data collection, the following may occur:
1. Model Downloads
When you download AI models from third-party services (such as Hugging Face), those services may collect standard connection information such as IP addresses. This is outside of our control and subject to those services' privacy policies.
2. App Store Analytics
If you download the App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, those platforms may collect analytics data according to their privacy policies. We may receive anonymized, aggregated data from these platforms (such as download counts and crash reports).
3. Optional Feedback
If you choose to submit feedback or bug reports through the App, you may voluntarily provide information. This is entirely optional and we only collect what you choose to share.
4. Firebase Analytics (Optional)
The App may use Firebase for basic app analytics such as crash reporting and usage metrics. This data is anonymized and does not include any personal information or conversation content. You can opt out of analytics in the App settings.
Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to us:
- -Conversation history: All your chat sessions with the AI
- -Downloaded AI models: The model files you download for offline use
- -App settings: Your preferences and configurations
- -Custom Pals: AI personalities you create
- -Processed images: Any images you analyze with the AI
You can delete this data at any time through the App's settings or by uninstalling the App.
Data Security
Since your data stays on your device, its security depends on your device's security features. We recommend:
- Using a strong device passcode or biometric lock
- Keeping your device's operating system up to date
- Being cautious about who has physical access to your device
Conversation data stored by the App uses the device's native security features for protection.
Third-Party Services
The App may interact with third-party services in the following ways:
Hugging Face
When you browse and download AI models, you connect to Hugging Face servers. Please refer to Hugging Face's privacy policy for information about their data practices.
Firebase
We may use Firebase for crash reporting and basic analytics. Please refer to Google's privacy policy for Firebase for more information.
Your Rights
Because we don't collect your personal data, traditional data subject rights are handled differently:
Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
International Users
The App is available internationally. Because we don't collect or transfer your personal data, there are no cross-border data transfer concerns related to your use of the App.
Open Source
Nova AI is an open-source project. You can review our source code to verify our privacy practices. This transparency allows anyone to audit exactly what the App does with your data.
